"We consider Diskeeper to be an extremely vital tool on all of our computer systems, workstations and file servers. As a high-end printing and mailing company, we deal with extremely large files and databases for our clients. We are using Diskeeper on our SAN as well as on RAID drives on our servers. Diskeeper keeps each of our systems hard drives humming! Fast and efficient file access also means a minimum of wear and tear on the hard drives, increasing uptime and minimizing system maintenance. Diskeeper greatly minimizes the amount of time that we spend servicing our systems. It is one of the only products that we can set up and rarely ever have to think about. Diskeeper just goes about its business, maintaining our drives perfectly. Diskeeper just works, plain and simple!

On my laptop, I can easily tell the difference; after Diskeeper was installed, it runs much cooler to the touch, as my 320 GB hard drive doesn’t work nearly as hard as it used to.

With very large PDF’s, PhotoShop files, graphic images, design files, etc that are modified often, having those files kept in a defragmented state greatly speeds up our systems responsiveness and thus our productivity and profitability."

"The difference is night and day between a drive that has Diskeeper installed and one that does not.

We use Diskeeper 2009 on a variety of platforms and machines. We have some VMware machines running, desktops, laptops, and servers. If we don’t defrag, everything comes to screeching halt. We have used Diskeeper on RAID5, RAID0, and on SANs.

When we used the SANs for data storage for a file server, we had customers complaining all the time about performance. Once we used Diskeeper on the SANs and cleaned up the fragments, all the complaints went away.

One SAN is now a 4TB box used for data storage for our VMware environment. The VM machines all have Diskeeper on them because the applications just run faster when the VM is defragmented; each machine is a file that is created to full size when the machine is built. I guess if you used the option to allocate space as needed; there would be more fragments in the physical environment, but we do not.

We too always hear that defragmenting a SANs is not needed. My personal view is that if there are fragments, defragmenting is needed. "

"The greatest benefit we've seen from Diskeeper is speeding up our data backups on our SAN. One of our volumes is 800GB. It took up to 72 hours to backup that volume. After running Diskeeper for a month we started to see tangible results. We are now down to 47 hours. 72 hours is a very long time. By getting it down to 47 hours we now have a maintenance window on the weekend again!

In addition, the files that we access on that volume respond much faster. I will give references for Diskeeper Server edition."

"I would definitely recommend automatic defrag to other Network Admins. Although we have not upgraded to Diskeeper 2009 Standard/Enterprise as of yet, we rely on it heavily to maintain disk performance on our SAN and local (OS) server volumes. InvisiTasking has been a significant enhancement as far as managing system utilitzation for defragmentation. It is probably one of the biggest reasons why we’ve begun rolling out the desktop version as well to some of our XP/Vista machines (we purchased 100 seats last year).

Diskeeper has extended the life of our storage assets and changed the business focus to storage capacity rather than storage performance. That change alone has the pleasant side-effect of reducing, if not eliminating altogether, Help Desk requests about system performance."

"We are running Diskeeper EnterpriseServer on many systems and multiple platforms. It is running on Windows 2000 Servers, Windows 2003 and 2003-R2, and on Windows 2008.

In our installation we set a specific time and date for defragging a network drive. The reason behind this is our backup software. When the files are being defragged, and moved around, and the backup system happens to hit that drive at the same time, it seems to think that the files are in use, or simply sees them as “open files”, and hence does not back them up. Depending on what server we are looking at, skipping files was not something we wanted.

As we checked further into this, the situation turned out to be a problem of the backup program. The vendor suggested we upgrade to newer version of the software, and our issues should go away. (We are in the process of upgrading.)

We have seen some very good results running Diskeeper on standalone physical servers. One incident is our HR and Payroll System. At certain times, the system was running very slowly even though very few users were attached to it. To make a long story short, I suggested installing Diskeeper on that system. The System Admin and I put the application on one weekend and with no users attached, we ran our first defrag.

The process took a little while to finish since it had not been done before. But come Monday morning, and after users started logging in, some called the Systems Admin and asked if we have replaced our server with a faster one!

Of course the answer was “No”. And he explained that over the weekend we defragged our server and databases and manage to achieve a better system performance.
We have installed Diskeeper on multiple other systems and servers. We also started adding Diskeeper to some virtual servers. So far all is running very smoothly. And of course I have no problems recommending Diskeeper to other System Administrators, for their systems. The built-in scheduling and off-hours defragmenting is very helpful and very flexible. Diskeeper has provided us with more system versatility and better throughput than other defrag products. We will continue to use Diskeeper. "

"We do believe that Diskeeper plays a vital role in maintaining our desktops. We encourage our employee owners to run their Outlook client in cache mode and to also use the auto-archive feature. As you know, the built-in defrag does not handle defragging cached mail all that well. So it is important that we keep our desktops defragmented"

"I consider Diskeeper a vital tool in my administrative arsenal. We have fewer complaints from users about their laptops being sluggish. Trust me when I say it saves me time in administration with more than one third of our company’s users having laptops."

"We greatly appreciate the ease of use of Diskeeper software. It eliminates another job from our schedule. It really is set it and forget it, and users do not even know it is there.

It is simpler than the software we used in the past to administer. We have not been bothered with frequent updates to install, or bug issues.

We would recommend Diskeeper for any companies use."

"We do find Diskeeper to be vital and we use it for our virtual servers (VMware) as well. We redirect our user desktops and My Documents folders to network shares and have found the response times improved quite a bit after defragging the virtual server.

We also found that it cuts the time needed to perform a P2V (convert physical machines to virtual) by about 90% if the physical server is defragged beforehand. Case in point, we had a few physical Citrix servers that simply did not want to P2V but simply worked as expected after defrag and very quickly.

Thank you Diskeeper."

"I have always considered Diskeeper to be a vital component for my desktop experience as NTFS volume fragmentation has historically been a real problem in terms of the impact it has on overall system performance. Diskeeper has always risen to the challenge of handling and eliminating such nuisance fragmentation in a powerful, yet efficient manner. I have always recommended Diskeeper to friends, family and colleagues for the robust architecture I have come to know and the innovative technologies employed to keep my NTFS volumes healthy and efficient. Diskeeper helps keep my systems operating at their maximum capacities by providing what I consider to be a key component to overall efficient and productive systems.

I would say, on those desktops where Diskeeper is installed and managed, that we get fewer complaints when it comes to system-wide degradation of performance. I feel that we can safely attribute some of that to our management of the systems and most definitely part of it to Diskeeper's robust management of the fragmentation of the file system. In comparison, those systems without Diskeeper installed and managed do not necessarily perform as efficiently as those that do."

"Diskeeper is absolutely essential to our production systems. I would not deploy a production server without it. The long term difference in performance in our system is not only measurable, it’s noticeable to the end users.

We have a web-based automotive industry CRM with thousands of users. As an n-tier application, the performance of each layer is critical to the overall user experience. Application queues, message queues and data queues are all disk-based. Fragmentation in these critical files will affect performance faster than almost anything else. Diskeeper cut the average page build times by 70%, with many in the sub-second range. These are data-intensive pages, so the performance is very impressive. "

"I've been using Diskeeper for several years now. It's software that has a mission and it does it very well. I like it and keep using it because: It does a significantly better job at defragging than the built in Windows utility. Windows defrag is limited in what it can do Diskeeper does a much more thorough job and defrags where windows can't. It's VERY FAST. If you ever tried to defrag a hard drive in Windows 98, 2000 or XP, you know that you can usually take a long coffee break waiting for it to complete (frown). Diskeeper will continually work in the background monitoring the situation and defragging as needed to keep peak performance."

"We consider Diskeeper to be a vital tool. Our networks run 24x7x365 to support our airmen across the globe. As such, we need our servers to be maintained at optimum levels to avoid any delays or even worse, downtime for the users. Before we had to schedule downtimes and assign personnel to perform the manual defrag. Using Diskeeper keeps the servers from bogging down with all the database activity we have going on. Plus it defrags in the background without affecting active system resources and does it all without anyone running the program.

The other thing I've noticed is that Diskeeper saves us in hardware costs. We aren't adding memory or disks to improve our performance anymore.

We didn't buy Diskeeper specifically for any one application. We knew the value of defrag and were excited to find that Diskeeper met our needs and beyond. Diskeeper has kept up with the new technologies we've incorporated into our enterprise network - RAID, clustering, SAN, and VMware ESX. We aren't worried that Diskeeper will not keep our storage running at its best; it's a proven product that we have quite frankly taken for granted and is part of the fabric of our enterprise."

"Diskeeper is a vital tool. The systems that directly benefit from Diskeeper are my Windows 2003/2008 servers. My work is better because of the performance increase I receive from my servers by having their hard drives defragmented, and the reporting feature also alerts me to storage capacity problems.

I found that the alert feature of Diskeeper is really great. It emails me a report at 9:00am every morning with a disk space and defrag report, so I can be alerted to potential problems. The product was very easy to install and configure as well. And the fact that it works on Windows Server 2008 shows me that Diskeeper is ahead of the curve in the development department.

I will recommend automatic defrag to others."

"I think Diskeeper is necessary to ensure that defragmentation is not an issue. It’s an easy way to have one less thing to worry about.

We are running Diskeeper on all of our servers with RAID, a few NAS servers, and also the box with our antivirus running on it.

I can’t state hard figures on performance metrics, but anecdotally, I had seen a difference when I initially installed Diskeeper a few years back. I am certain that I would not be getting the good performance today without Diskeeper as my machines are over 5 years old at this point. They are just faster all around.

My desktops are also running much better than they would be otherwise. I am still getting use out of Dell Dimension 2400's that also are over 5 years old. I attribute this to Diskeeper keeping their HDs optimized."

"Diskeeper is employed on our servers and user computers and is set to automatically defragment each computer's disk drives. I find the continuous defragmentation to be helpful in maintaining the I/O of the drives at an optimal level, particularly for the servers. As we are a data management company, our servers experience a great deal of read/write operations and Diskeeper helps ensure each drive maintains its ability to process write and read requests in the best manner possible.

Diskeeper benefits the overall operation of our servers since most of the servers are very write intensive (database server, email server, file/print server).

The Diskeeper engine is not CPU intensive and I have observed that it backs off under periods when server or user computer activity is high. Once the activity subsides, Diskeeper returns to processing.

As we do consider Diskeeper to be a vital tool, we have made it a requirement for each computer that is used within our company."

"We are currently using Diskeeper automatic defrag on 12 servers. We consider Diskeeper to be vital to the health and well being of our systems. With automatic defrag, it is one less thing off my plate. It works seamlessly. We have a lot of files that get modified frequently, so our file servers were really a mess before we turned on the automatic defrag.

I have a contractor who comes periodically and his comment was he wished more of his clients would make the investment in Diskeeper."

"I would love to share some thoughts on Diskeeper Server edition. In answer to your questions, I do consider Diskeeper to be an extremely vital tool. The ability to set and forget it, as well as the improved speed over the built-in defragmenter, are just some of the pluses.

I also like the ability to schedule the individual drives and see reports of what has been going on.

My own work is much better because I don’t have to log in after hours just to run the built-in defrag and then wait because it doesn’t play nicely with open files. The speed of our virtual guests and hosts and increased dramatically as well as our biggest file server that serves 170 users.

We are running NextGen HER which generates hundreds of files daily, but we don’t have to worry because every night Diskeeper “puts them in their place!”

Keep up the good work!"

"Diskeeper is a vital tool. I believe that all my applications benefit from Diskeeper.

My own work is better off because Diskeeper takes lots of time off from scheduling jobs and guarantees that my disk arrays will be fragment free, unlike Microsoft's embedded defragmentation tool. I also like the quality of your products. Diskeeper finds more fragments and gives better analysis.

I currently use Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 but am testing Microsoft's Hyper-V and VMware Infrastructure. I also have VMware workstation and use it religiously. We use RAID 1, 10, 5 and 6. I'm also running Diskeeper on two NAS appliances.

I do know for sure that all systems suffer from fragmentation - even domain controllers. With so many Microsoft security updates and file read/write/creation, I can't see how any system can remain defragmented."

"Diskeeper is definitely a vital tool that increases and improves performance, especially in database environments. We utilize Diskeeper on all of our servers. It works well, does the job and we are pleased with the results.

My own work is better off because I’m no longer worried about file fragmentation and I know that my servers operate at peak performance.

The primary reason why we wanted Diskeeper was because we run SAP ERP on MS SQL and Diskeeper does a very good job in defragmenting database data and log files. We wanted to increase the SAP response time by having a defragmented database and Diskeeper helped us reach this goal.

We use EMC Clariion SAN and Diskeeper defragments 200 GB of data from the SAN very efficiently, without impacting the server performance. In addition to defragmenting databases, Diskeeper also helps us with file system fragmentation. Everything runs on RAID5 and RAID10 in our environment and we utilize Windows 2003 R2 Server OS."

"About 5 weeks ago I decided to try an experiment that was recommended by a reader. The basic was to defrag my system and than not to do any defragging for one month. Right after I decided to try this experiment I received a free evaluation copy courtesy of Diskeeper who provided me with a free copy of Diskeeper Pro Premier 2009 to try on my Vista laptop, which I used for the experiment.

My laptop is used through out the day for blogging, searching out sites and for playing with a variety of different software to test and review. So on about February 15th, 2009 I defragged by system using the Diskeeper product I mentioned above and did so for 5 days straight. On or about February 20th, 2009 I stopped defragging to see what would happen.

For the first few weeks I didn’t notice much at all happening or I may not have been watching what was happening. But it was last week that I noticed a few things. I was going into Accessories - System Tools - System Information and I sat staring at an hour glass for about 10 seconds before anything came up. Strange I thought. When I opened some doc’s, same time warp but under 10 seconds and not so severe as above. This is when I noticed that even returning from hibernation also seemed slow. Was it my perception or were things really slowing down? A few more experiments and yes, things were slow. I finished out the remainder to my time and than defragged this morning.

All is once again well. Documents open quickly and I just tried system information and it came up immediately.

Does defragging really help a computer system? I believe it does but your mileage may vary."

"Here is my experience with Diskeeper 2009. We have 2 NAS units that we use for daily backups as well as storage. Because of the large amount of data going in and out of the units, we were having delays in read/write times. The NAS units are used to store backups and user Home folders; the servers are Dell PowerVault NF500.

When we got Diskeeper, the Servers were completely fragmented. Now they are in a much better state and I don’t even have to manage them. Since getting the product I also discovered our other Servers were not in the shape I thought they were in and Diskeeper has helped me clean them up as well.

I don’t know if I can give you a monetary value on this; it’s more a pain level. The server was failing on backups at least twice a week. Some of the reasons that the server was failing, were because of disk read/write errors due to fragmentation. Now that the errors are fixed, I don’t have to spend my morning fixing the backup strategy."

"Diskeeper 2009 has been doing a great job for me and the improvement on system performance makes it well worth the money.

Fragmentation of the virtual disk on VMware virtual machines happens more frequently then on a physical drive. VMware does have a solution but it is time consuming, inefficient and impractical. I use Diskeeper on our VMware virtual machines which had been barely functional before the deployment.

Here are the steps posted to resolve the fragmentation issue:

Like physical disk drives, virtual disks can become fragmented. Defragmenting disks rearranges files, programs, and unused space on the virtual disk so that programs run faster and files open more quickly. Defragmenting does not reclaim unused space on a virtual disk; to reclaim unused space or shrink the disk.

For best disk performance, follow these steps:
1. Run a disk defragmentation utility inside the virtual machine.
2. Power off the virtual machine, then defragment its virtual disks from the virtual machine settings editor (VM > Settings). Select the virtual disk you want to defragment, then click Defragment. 3. Run a disk defragmentation utility on the host computer. Defragmenting disks may take considerable time.

Note: The defragmentation process requires free working space on the host computer's disk. If your virtual disk is contained in a single file, for example, you need free space equal to the size of the virtual disk file. Other virtual disk configurations require less free space.

This was not acceptable because of the frequency (every 3 days or sooner) you would have to do this, and the defrag utility was no more that a Windows-based defrag utility.

We needed a more robust and versatile solution, one that worked well and could be scheduled. I currently use Diskeeper on all of our workstations to maintain optimal disk performance and the Diskeeper 2009 Administrator made the deployment easy."

"I am convinced that it is in the best interest, regarding efficiency & time, for employees to not have to be any longer concerned about their machine operating sluggishly due to the need to defrag. Diskeeper’s automatic defrag is a real time saver and thus never enters the troubleshooting list as a possible cause of problems because you know that the system is being continuously defragged.

People cannot be depended upon to utilize the defrag utility available in XP Pro OS or to use the free Diskeeper Lite on a regular basis. And when it was (very rarely) used it did not do a sufficient job of defrag as you had to run it several times and even then it was always lacking in a complete defrag, not to mention it took away production time because you had to run it either during your work time if the computer got to be so slow that it was imperative, or you ran it over a lunch period/overnight. Even then it had to be run over again when you returned. Suffice it to say that was always a real headache to deal with simply because it is not automatic and did not run in the background.

I would add that it is very important for any system administrator to also purchase the Diskeeper Administrator along with the Server and the workstation versions. This is important because all functions regarding Diskeeper Professional can be administered from the system administrator’s workstation – even across the internet to remote locations."

"I think most all of our applications benefit from Diskeeper but one that comes to mind immediately is File Serving. We have several large file servers that have DAS RAID5 arrays attached to them and I have definitely noticed a difference as compared to before Diskeeper, even at our rapid rate of growth. Also I have noticed a performance perk on our Sharepoint 2007 servers; this would include a heavily-loaded SQL2005 backend.

We are running Diskeeper on our virtual environment servers which are VMware Server 1.8 and 2.0 platforms. I was hesitant about deploying, thinking that large file instances may be an issue with overhead at first, but Diskeeper made all the difference in the world. I can now get away without having to dedicate disk spindles to VM instances. This seems to be doing well with VMware instances on the same spindle as long as I am running Diskeeper.

There are several old servers in our environment that I don’t have to immediately replace because I can get some extra life out of them as long as I have Diskeeper to keep the disk performance tuned.

I like the Diskeeper 2009 Premier also; it's great for my laptop. I insist on running Diskeeper 2009 in our environment. I am a firm believer in Diskeeper and have been for many years. Keep up the great work."

"We’re not a large company; we have approximately 70 employees but we use programs and applications that require large amounts of resources, including a CAD program, Adobe CS4, Sketchup Pro, and other civil engineering applications.

What we’ve found is that with Diskeeper Professional running, especially on our heavily used production stations, we don’t need to waste unnecessary time defragging each one individually. We don’t have a way to easily measure the performance increase, but I CAN tell you that the complaints from users of slow performance have dropped considerably.

We do see a noticeable improvement with our CAD program, since some users have multiple drawings and tools open on their two monitors. Also, the people who use CS4 have made positive comments.

Overall, the increase in performance and speed has well justified the cost of Diskeeper Pro on the workstations and Diskeeper Server on our servers."

"I have a couple programs which cause plenty of fragmentation, but this wades through them like a hot knife through butter. Set it and forget it is the best way to go, yet it's no slouch at on-demand defrags. The new engine is fast and nimble. Diskeeper 2009 is light years ahead of the 2008 version.

I’ve been running it on my laptop ever since I got it and I’ve yet to experience ANY hard drive/disk errors or problems, whereas on my desktop (prior to moving to my laptop) I would go through 2-3 hard drives per year at least. Faults, errors, corruptions or full disk failures were rather common."

"Backing up to tape used to take 4 hours to back up 20 gigs. After defragging with Diskeeper, it took 2 hours to back up 60 gigs.

In the last year SQL backup speed has improved by > 300%
SQL backup reliability has improved by >600%
SQL maintenance scripts, where applied, improved performance by >4000% (those scripts had had no effect on our fragmented databases)
and SQL-related MOM alerts decreased by >90%.

We are very pleased with Diskeeper."

"Diskeeper was a SOLID investment. Diskeeper enables us to do more production with fewer resources. This site does Geo-Spatial processing in support of Flight Simulations for the US Army. The applications we use are very abusive to storage, creating continual fragmentation.

Considering that multiple Terra-Bytes of storage were involved, active defragmentation was the only real option to mitigate this abuse. We tested a handful of defragmentation applications and really monitored each application's resource utilization prior to deciding on Diskeeper as our solution. Diskeeper gave us the performance return desired with a straight-forward management interface that enabled us to deploy the application across the enterprise from a single console."

”I wanted to let you know that I have been a user (and a big fan) of Diskeeper for around 8 years. What really hooked me then was the “set it and forget it” feature, which truly worked the way it should, although disk optimization was still limited to a specific time window.

With the new InvisiTasking, I was able to install Diskeeper on a Server that runs critical nightly batch processing for the credit union, and also runs various jobs throughout the day. We were getting “Delayed write failed” errors about once a week and I installed Diskeeper 2008 to see if I could improve the performance of the disk array.

Over the next three days, without having to re-boot the server or stop any of the processing, Diskeeper 2008 healed over 180,000 fragmented files. Needless to say, our “Delayed write fail” error messages are a thing of the past. Keep up the excellent work, I truly believe in your product.”

We didn’t run into many problems earlier with system resources because we had Diskeeper set to not run from 6am-2am (production hours) though with InvisTasking, everything is working better because our backups do not take as long with the new version. Previously you could tell when a backup was running if Diskeeper was running. Now it is transparent.

The company is better off from using Diskeeper. It is to a point that we can tell when an install of Diskeeper was missed or not functioning properly. Diskeeper is running on a SQL 2005 database. I have it deployed on multiple RAID mirrors and RAID 5’s. I have Diskeeper on a HP MSA 1000 and we are also using Exchange Server.

“We have been using Diskeeper for several years now as part of our strategy to keep machines performing up their capabilities. We have a mixed environment with lots of Windows servers as well as many Windows XP and Vista workstations. We use a Netapp backend for the storage of our databases. We run a lot of SQL in our environment and we have to keep those servers performing at a high level and Diskeeper helps with this. It is nice to go to a machine and open Diskeeper and find that the machine is completely defragged. I never find one that needs defragging. This is due to the ability of Diskeeper to run in the background and its InvisiTasking ability to not take up much on the resource side.

For us it really came down to what Diskeeper does. If a disk has to spin 5 times to get the data, that can be a slowdown. With Diskeeper, everything is defragged and the systems perform better.

I would recommend Diskeeper to anyone as it helps keep our machines in a healthy state. It’s nice to know that fragmentation is never the problem when diagnosing machine issues and Diskeeper helps us keep it that way.”

“I've now installed Diskeeper on 3 computers with the same result on all of them...significantly approved performance.

I most likely will recommend the rest of the company to invest in this software. The biggest reason for this is probably the opportunity to keep computers at least one extra year instead of replacing them. The applications we are running on these computers are:
- Citric clients
- Microsoft Office 2003
- AutoCad 2007 - SafeCad
- Registry Mechanic
- Skype
- Mobile Sync Software (Sony Ericsson)
- Trend Micro Office Scan 7.0 .“

“I have been very fond of the Diskeeper trial-version that was with my PC when bought it, therefore I naturally bought a licence to use the full version.

The I-FAAST feature is enabled and it has been used, but to be honest, I have no idea how it has helped the speed of my system. However the overall features of this premium edition of Diskeeper 2008, has surely improved the performance of my system. It is a brilliant idea to have the pc defrag when it is idle, thus making sure that the data is optimally stored on the physical level of the harddisk.

I most definently would, and has already, recommended the software for both friends, family and my custumers to my IT-consultant firm. At least for Windows XP.

I hope this has been helpful, and I thank for this great product.“

“I've used Diskeeper for a few years, and now have version 2008. All I can say is...great job. I have evaluated competitor products and still go back to Diskeeper. It is more expensive...but well worth the investment.

As Senior Network Engineer for the NIX Health Care System, I run a menagerie of products on my system...all at the same time. Unfortunately this causes a significant amount of constant fragmentation. Diskeeper 2008 with InvisiTasking is the only product I have found that is capable of tackling this job.

I am incredibly demanding on my hardware, very often taxing my laptop to the point where it becomes completely without user interaction while it performs tasks. Diskeeper is the only product to go through this type of treatment and still maintain a completely defragmented drive without any interaction on my part. Diskeeper...the ultimate defragmenter. “

Absolutely I do recommend Diskeeper to others. Diskeeper and InvisiTasking, as of V2007, was absolutely AWESOME! Diskeeper 2008 with InvisTasking & I-FAAST is even better.

My system performed much faster with early versions of Diskeeper.
My system performed even faster with less work with Diskeeper 2007 and InvisiTasking.
My system unbelievably performed even faster yet with Diskeeper 2008 using InvisiTasking + I-FAAST!!!!

Diskeeper can help us save money on laptop refreshes and make money on increased productivity.

Diskeeper absolutely ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am truly thrilled with the Diskeeper 2008 product. I had two servers that were having major issues with our backup software package. The backup program was actually crashing one server every time it ran and the other server wouldn’t complete a backup. Between Diskeeper and chkdsk, it resolved both server issues.

Because of my experience with Diskeeper, I am ordering 5 more Server licenses now and plan for more packages in the next budget cycle.

We are using Diskeeper 2008 as a stand alone service on three separate PC's. Mainly we are running ESRI GIS applications and MS Office, with large amounts of data. Our operations require us to constantly model data using subsets, deleting them, appending, etc., where we end up creating many files for use with a single project. After a while our individual PC's begin to show system degradation. The large data files we maintain would cause the built-in defragger to crash every time.

Needless to say, we went to Diskeeper for a solution. After install and initial setup, we haven't touched the software except to monitor reports. Everything is working better than it was prior to installing Diskeeper.

We originally were looking to try to defeat some disk performance issues for an application backended by MS SQL Server. The “Physical Disk I/O” and “Context Switches per Second” counters were consistently above an acceptable threshold on our Dell PowerEdge 2950 server. We did have the optimal RAID configuration for a SQL Server (RAID1 OS, RAID1 Log file volume, RAID0 for the TempDb, and a RAID5 DB volume), but were still seeing less than optimal performance.

Using the built-in defrag tool in Windows 2003, I checked the disks and found all volumes to be heavily fragmented. I then downloaded the Diskeeper Trialware and used the demo to defragment my SQL server volumes. It worked great and we gained noticeable performance both in terms of measurable (Performance counters went back under the thresholds) and anecdotal: our Users surveyed said they did see a boost in the speed of the particular application.

We did purchase 10 Diskeeper Server licenses and use it on our file and application server, including Exchange Server.

I would be glad to recommend Diskeeper. I have seen a difference in the demands on the server even when I manually ran a defrag during peak work time. No slow down was noticed.

We are a medical practice with four doctors in two offices. The server is located in our main office in Denison, Texas, our other office in Sherman Texas and is connected to our server by a point to point T-1. We have 26 work stations, which include 4 tablet PC's that the doctors use while seeing patients. We run two different software packages on the server: Centricity Physician Office Practice 2004, for scheduling and patient information. We also run Allscripts TouchChart electronic medical records, which we scan all patient documents into. We have a Dell PowerEdge 2900 RAID 10 server with 900 Gb hard drive space, 4 Gb of Ram, running 2 Intel Xeon dual core 2.0 Ghz processors.

Diskeeper 2008 server keeps our data system running clean and fast, with over 700,000 scanned in documents on our server. Diskeeper is a must in keeping the system from slowing down and files from being fragmented all over the hard drive. Things are running great. Thank you for a must-have product.

My interest in Diskeeper started when, for some reason my HDD became highly fragmented. Performance was as compromised as I had ever seen it. The defrag utility in WindowsXP SP2 would not touch the problem, at all. After researching the available products I purchased Diskeeper on-line. It took awhile but the application came through and restored my PC's performance to where it was, prior to the unexplained fragmentation issue.

Since that time I have performed a fresh OS and application re-install. I have trashed my other product and re-installed Diskeeper. I use ESET NOD32 antivirus, as well. In actual fact my PC is running faster then when it was new - at a level that I would expect from having a pair of 3GB processors and 2GB of RAM under the hood.

Usually old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill but not here. I listened to my wise son who considers other defraggers to be resource pigs and made the application switches some time ago. Now and again I look in on my drives (pair of 250GB SATA's and a 320GB external) and Diskeeper has maintained them essentially fragment free.

In short, I am delighted with the product and have recommended it to others an every opportunity.

Diskeeper is run every day and helps to keep the computer running smoothly, coupled with tune up utilities and Registry First aid platinum. The system runs very well an improvement over the standard defragmentation tools issued with windows. I have and will continue to recommend other users to Diskeeper as I find the whole experience with the software good, from the HCI of the software to the actual performance that it gives.

The scheduling function of defragmention makes it easy to have your hard disk operating at maximum efficiency depending on the frequency of defragmentation. I have also found myself defragmenting USB flash disks.

The fact that Diskeeper operates silently in the background with little or no user intervention makes it a must for any computer system. Be it a network or stand-alone PC.

The pc I am using Diskeeper on is a production pc. I now have 0 downtime on that PC. Daily defrag is one of the most important process one should put in process especially for a production PC. My PC now runs faster than before and is more available on the network for other PCs to access because I am close to 0 downtime. I would definitely recommend Diskeeper to anyone of my colleagues or my friends.

I would like to let you know that I am really (positively) surprised by the quality of your services and the professionalism that your company and the local reseller have demonstrated regarding our recent purchase of the Diskeeper 2007 Server licenses.
After I took the decision to proceed with the purchase of the above-mentioned licenses, everything worked perfectly well from your side: I contacted the local reseller (Mrs. Kyriazi @ Orthology Ltd) and a few minutes after hanging up the phone, I received the renewed quote (with the old good prices!). Then, I received an email from Leah with the URL to download the software and the license files (.dal) just a few minutes (or it was seconds?) after sending the offer-acceptance fax. Just two days later, I received a pack with the software media, the license and maintenance contract certificates, all formatted and packaged in a very professional way! And all these, without having to follow you up even for one time! If the software itself manages to fulfill the expectations (set by the product specifications), then I could definitely say that working with Diskeeper Corporation is a great pleasure!

Many thanks.

Being a seasoned user of your Diskeeper v7 and now a first time user of your 2007 Professional version I am please with the changes and improvements, that you have done to the product. We only use Diskeeper on our workstations for the time being, but I hope to add a Server version in the future.

We get two major benefits from the use of Diekeeper.
- helps keep your disk in good working condition by enforcing a process of (automatically) verifying harddisk health.
- improves disk preformance by reducing and maintaining harddisk i/o times at optimal levels.

I will and do recommend Diskeeper to my colleagues.

Since having installed Diskeeper I have found the following benefits.

My main computer runs like it did on the day everything was installed. Over the six months before I installed Diskeeper my computer was gradually getting slower and slower. I was considering upgrading the computer (the second time in six months), when I thought I would give Diskeeper a go. Having installed and run a full scan (which took about 10 hours) my computer was better than new.

Having set up Set it and Forget It I now have a computer that just defragments itself, I no longer get a machine that slows down, and then I think I should defragment - this takes times - it just happens. You can just forget that defragmentation is a problem.

I use Diskeeper in a small office and will be installing it on other computers as funds allow.

I am already recommending Diskeeper to others.
Thank you for a great product. .

Diskeeper allows me to override my smart schedule by delaying the defragmentation process by a said number of hours. This is very useful if I have a very busy workload that requires as much processor resources as possible. Defragmentation is absolutely essential and if not performed regularly based on usage will result in a significant decrease in system performance.

We are currently using Diskeeper Enterprise Edition on one of our file share servers, this server is constantly bombarded with changes therefore the drives are always fragmented; your product runs every night to help maintain a low fragmentation, thus prolonging the life of the drives.

The "Set It and Forget It" option is very helpful and we found that the server is performing a lot better; the health of the drives has vastly improved.

The server we run Diskeeper has Win2003 server and it hosts all of our 1738 terminal server user profiles and personal areas. Obviously the server is key to our business. A fast and reliable server is a must and your product helps us to maintain this.

I would recommend this product to people who use terminal servers because all our profile and user file shares are also held on this server and originally many were experiencing slow logons, but after Diskeeper was installed, we found that the overall speed and efficiency of the server improved.

So all in all, we are very happy with the results generated by Diskeeper.

I'm completely satisfied with Diskeeper. We use it on all 50 of our servers, 22 of which are running Citrix Metaframe XP and get trashed every day with users logging in and out constantly all day. Previously we were unable to really use Diskeeper to its full potential. Now with the Administrative Edition we are able to centrally manage and log defragmentation runs nightly. The Smart Scheduling feature is also very handy because I don't have time to figure out the best time to run defrag on 50 servers especially with nightly backups running concurrently, now this does it for me within the limits I set. Then I can use the reporting tool to easily summarize the result of the night's defragmentation runs. I've also noticed that the engine runs much quicker and is better at optimizing my disks for performance. Even the UI is greatly improved and easier to use.

We are a healthcare corporation with a centralized server network and about 30 WAN locations throughout New England . Our servers are all Windows 2000 with Citrix Metaframe XPe on the front-end. We mostly run Microsoft Office products along with customized clinical and accounting applications.

All in all, this is a pretty complete defragmentation solution which I would recommend to others, from the casual home user to the corporate enterprise.

I manage 100 Windows servers between our three data centers. We use Diskeeper on all of our file/print servers and have noticed a drastic performance improvement (even on dual Xeon servers with 2GB RAM). We also have it running on our internal production SQL Server. We recently upgraded one of our licences to Enterprise Edition to defrag a Dell PowerVault SCSI drive array. You'd be surprised how much faster GroupWise archives open when your drive isn't 14% fragmented.

We use Diskeeper to manage the disk space on our Dell PowerVault 220S SCSI drive array. It's run on a two-node Microsoft Windows 2003 cluster. Having 1.6TB of disk space has greatly helped us since we kept exceeding capacity and migrating data servers about every nine months.

I'm convinced the only way to efficiently manage 1 TB of active files is with Diskeeper. Manually defragmenting millions of files with the Windows Disk Defrag tool took almost 2 full days to run and ate up about 30-50% of the system CPU. Diskeeper took less than 1 full day to run its initial cycle, and only used 5-9% of the CPU so no one called to ask why the network was running slow. Since we now schedule Diskeeper, it takes about 10% less time to backup the file system. This is very important when your full backup runs more than 24 hours (which is sad with a GB network backplane).

Fragmented file servers took around 16 hours to back up each night, leaving no time for maintenance, virus scan or anything else. [With Diskeeper,] backups now take a maximum of 4 hours!

The problem we were having was, the server would get so busy that it would stop processing I/O requests and network traffic would just hang. I have found Diskeeper to be less intrusive on other processes while it performs its tasks. Experience with default defragmenters shows that sometimes they will hang or get stuck on a given section of the hard disk. This is an extremely important problem solved by using Diskeeper over the Windows built-in defragmenter.

Bob Kranson, Compuware
Senior Support Analyst

Prior to using Diskeeper, I was manually defragging them using the built-in utility which, at one point, caused one of the servers to totally lose its disk MFT configuration and causing me to have to rebuild the entire server.

That's the scoop. Manual defrag stinks and the built-in utility is in no way viable for a server.

Wayne Jones, Maney & Gordon , PA

Before installing Diskeeper, the computer had to be rebooted on a regular basis because it was slowing down; access to files was always slow, especially when up to 10 people could be accessing the drive. Since I installed Diskeeper the number of reboots has dramatically reduced, file access is much quicker, and whenever I look at the state of the disk there are very few fragmented files. With the PC in action 24 hrs a day, the Smart Scheduling works very well.

I am absolutely, fantastically and completely elated with the value, performance and ROI I have received from my Diskeeper software purchase. Diskeeper paid for itself in less than a day!

I don't have to buy a new PC, thanks to Diskeeper. Diskeeper should be on everyone's machine. After using Diskeeper for a few minutes, my machine was twice as fast....just like it used to be and seems faster than ever before!!!

Keep in mind that I am a computer professional by trade...and therefore I appreciate the value of healthy computing. I therefore periodically defragged my machine...but I could never afford to defrag frequently enough to keep my machine performing at top speed. I just can't afford the time it takes to use the built-in Microsoft Windows defrag system utility. It just takes too long and gets in the way of productive work.

Diskeeper solved all my problems! Diskeeper's "Set It and Forget It!" mode is a life saver...and I'm not exaggerating!

This is an absolutely wonderful software product that EVERYONE should use.

While I am not in a position to negotiate site licences for IBM, I believe everyone at IBM and elsewhere should use Diskeeper every night. If you ever find yourself in a position to negotiate a volume purchase for IBM, I would be more than willing to sing the amazing praises of Diskeeper.

I love Diskeeper! What I have observed so far is that Diskeeper v9.0 has transparently prevented disk fragmentation from building up and measurably slowing down our production servers. The ability to prevent fragmentation from building up without impacting the CPU load on the servers has been a key feature of the product.

The "Terabyte" engine is awesome! We run two SQL servers with Raid-5 Arrays of 1.6Tb & 3.75 Tb respectively, with 30% free space. We are running on HP Proliant DL-360 & 380 G3 Servers. Diskeeper v9.0 has proven its ability to completely defragment these arrays in just a few hours. I am both amazed and impressed! The Terabyte Volume Engine solved a performance issue caused by fragmentation. Previously we were unable to defragment the Terabyte arrays and fragmentation was resulting in processing delays of incoming data files. This resulted in our SQL server falling behind during times of high usage. Now thanks to Diskeeper v9.0, we have breathing room to handle future growth. I am so impressed with Diskeeper on our servers that I purchased a copy for my workstation & am recommending it to all of my co-workers as well as to my manager.

Thank You for an excellent product!

Systems, which exhibited slowdown, have returned to normal speedy functioning with Diskeeper's help. We are using our system to handle a fairly high volume of data involving payroll, human resources and worker's compensation insurance for roughly 10,000 employees. Payroll processing poses the most mission critical aspect of our business, as well as the most speed sensitive and the least fault tolerant. Your product helps keep our system running smoothly. We are running a two-domain network system with thirty workstations and three servers. Our systems had experienced performance slowdowns due to fragmentation, and Diskeeper brought them back to normal functioning. It is worth a great deal to me to have the peace of mind I get from knowing that a product of Diskeeper's quality and effectiveness is running on the workstations I am responsible for maintaining.

Diskeeper works great! I did see the expected results. The problem we were having was the server would get so busy that it would stop possessing I/O requests and network traffic would just hang. Working with Microsoft and Compaq we concluded it was due to fragmentation. When we installed Diskeeper it resolved the problem overnight. Both servers have been running since we installed the Diskeeper product with no more network access problems.

We use Compaq, HP servers. Storagetek, and Adic tape libraries. These are just file servers for all of our production data. We have a third server that is used for archive data. The archive server is using a product from OTG software called DiskXtender which we found requires Diskeeper in order for it to work. We installed DiskXtender on our server last April and spent all summer trying to get it to work. In the end one of the main fixes was adding Diskeeper to defrag the drive. That fix led to adding it to the other two servers because they were having a similar problem.

I do recommend Diskeeper to others.

Diskeeper has rescued me from some major Windows XP NTFS bugs. Without Diskeeper's Frag Guard & Smart Scheduling my hard disk was getting severely fragmented on an hourly basis, causing Windows Explorer to frequently take 6-10 minutes to open a folder or Internet Explorer to take as long to open a browser window.

Microsoft tech support & I have been struggling with this problem for months with no resolution or explanation of what was causing the problem. The system would also spontaneously reboot on a regular basis.

Diskeeper's analysis helped me recognize the cause of the problem & provided a workaround to NTFS's shortcomings in less than an hour. Before Diskeeper, I lost thousands of dollars in billable hours. Now Diskeeper keeps things humming.
