| On my Windows 2000 system, Diskeeper shows my MFT reserved space disappeared. What did you do to it? |

Windows 2000 (and Windows NT 4, Service Packs 5 & 6) support a new version of NTFS (variously labeled NTFS 5, NTFS 2000, or NTFS 3, depending on where you look for the information). One of the differences between this new version of NTFS and older versions of NTFS is that the new version of NTFS handles the ''MFT reserved space'' differently. Under Windows NT4 Service Pack 3, the MFT reserved space was relatively static, and while it could move or change size, it did not do so very often. Under the new and improved NTFS, the MFT reserved space jumps around dynamically, changing size, and sometimes hiding under existing files. It isn't the same kind of MFT reserved space handling you're used to seeing in Windows NT4 Service Pack 3. Unfortunately, the parameters for the MFT reserved space aren't stored on the NTFS volume itself—instead, they are dynamically generated and stored in the NTFS file system driver context for the NTFS volume. Diskeeper cannot change those values; it can only inquire about them and display or act only on what it receives back.
