| On my new system, Diskeeper says I have a negative figure available for defragmentation and half of my NTFS partition shows the green and white stripes representing Reserved system space. What's up? |

We have received reports of new systems delivered to customers with this setting in place. Here is how to fix it: Run Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe), and go to the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Control\FileSystem. In the right pane, double-click NtfsMftZoneReservation. In the DWORD Editor window that appears, change the 4 to a 1. Click OK. Reboot your system. The company that produced your machine actually needed to create this entry. It does not appear in any current Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack.
